چکیده

Introduction Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of typical atrial flutter (AFL) is an effective and widely performed method of treatment. Confirmation of conduction block in the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) is the best endpoint of the procedure. Electrophysiological measurements for validation of CTI block are usually performed using 2 or 3 catheters. However, in some situations this multi-catheter approach may not be possible or is associated with increased periprocedural risk. In such cases, the already implanted permanent pacemaker may be used to perform electrophysiological maneuvers. We present a case report of RFCA of AFL performed with a single-catheter set and acute electrophysiological success confirmation.

Successful irrigated-tip catheter ablation of atrial flutter resistant to conventional radiofrequency ablation.

BACKGROUND Catheter ablation of typical right atrial flutter is now widely performed. The best end point has been demonstrated to be bidirectional isthmus block. We investigated the use of irrigated-tip catheters in a small subset of patients who failed isthmus ablation with conventional radiofrequency (RF) ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS Of 170 patients referred for ablation of common atrial f...

[Catheter ablation of atrial flutter. Electrophysiological characterization of posterior and septal isthmus block].

PURPOSE Evaluate the different types of conduction blocks obtained between inferior vena cava-tricuspid annulus (posterior isthmus) and between tricuspid annulus-coronary sinus ostium (septal isthmus) after radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation of atrial flutter (AFL). METHODS In 16 procedures, 14 patients (pts), 9 male, with type I AFL underwent RF ablation. Atrial activation around tricuspi...

Is 8-mm more effective than 4-mm tip electrode catheter for ablation of typical atrial flutter?

BACKGROUND The prospective, randomized study comparing 4- with 8-mm tip electrodes for radiofrequency linear ablation of typical atrial flutter is not available. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 104 consecutive patients with typical atrial flutter were randomly assigned to undergo radiofrequency linear ablation using a 4- (Group I, n=54) or 8-mm tip electrode (Group II, n=50) catheter (temperat...

Electrogram polarity and cavotricuspid isthmus block during ablation of typical atrial flutter.

INTRODUCTION The atrial activation sequence around the tricuspid annulus has been used to assess whether complete block has been achieved across the cavotricuspid isthmus during radiofrequency ablation of typical atrial flutter. However, sometimes the atrial activation sequence does not clearly establish the presence or absence of complete block. The purpose of this study was to determine wheth...

An Approach to Catheter Ablation of Cavotricuspid Isthmus Dependent Atrial Flutter

Much of our understanding of the mechanisms of macro re-entrant atrial tachycardia comes from study of cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) dependent atrial flutter. In the majority of cases, the diagnosis can be made from simple analysis of the surface ECG. Endocardial mapping during tachycardia allows confirmation of the macro re-entrant circuit within the right atrium while, at the same time, permitt...
